Cookie Policy

This policy explains what this website stores in your browser, what it is for, and how to change your mind.

Last updated 9 July 2026

In short

This website currently sets no cookies at all. It stores a single entry in your browser’s local storage to remember whether you accepted or declined optional analytics. Analytics are not currently enabled. Nothing here tracks you across other websites.

Cookies and similar technologies

A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store and send back on later requests. Local storage is a related mechanism: the browser holds the value, but unlike a cookie it is never automatically transmitted to a server. The law treats both as storage on your device, so both are covered here.

What we actually store

We take a deliberately narrow approach. At the time of the date at the top of this page, the complete list is:

sqrl.cookie-consent
Type: local storage, not a cookie. Never sent to our servers.Purpose: records whether you accepted or declined optional cookies, and when, so we do not ask again on every page.Retention: until you clear your browser storage, or until we materially change what we store, at which point we ask again.Basis: strictly necessary. Storing your refusal is the only way to honour it, so this entry is written whichever option you pick.

That is the entire list. We set no session cookies, no authentication cookies, no advertising or social-media pixels, and no cross-site identifiers.

Analytics

The consent notice offers you a choice about optional analytics cookies. We want to be precise about what that means today: no analytics tooling is currently installed on this website. Accepting does not switch anything on right now. It records your permission for us to enable privacy-respecting analytics in future without asking again.

If we do enable analytics, we will update this page to name the provider, the cookies or storage it uses, and its retention period, before or at the same time as it goes live. If the change is material we will reset stored choices and ask you again.

Third parties

Fonts are self-hosted, so loading this site does not call out to a font CDN. We embed no video players, no chat widgets, no maps, and no social-media timelines. Links that leave this site are ordinary links: nothing is requested from those services until you click, and once you do, their own policies apply.

Changing your choice

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time:

  • Clear this site’s data in your browser settings. The consent notice will reappear on your next visit and you can choose again.
  • Or, in your browser’s developer console, run localStorage.removeItem('sqrl.cookie-consent').

Because we set no cookies, blocking cookies entirely will not break this website. Blocking local storage will simply mean the consent notice reappears each visit, since we would have nowhere to record your answer.

Browser controls

Every major browser lets you view, block, and delete stored data, and most offer a “do not track” or anti-fingerprinting setting. Those controls sit with you, not with us, and we do not attempt to circumvent them.
